The story of the piece
Versace
Versace baroque print denim shorts
Versace is one of the most iconic Italian fashion maisons in the world, founded in 1978 in Milan by Gianni Versace. Born in Reggio Calabria in 1946, Gianni grew up in the world of tailoring thanks to his mother, a seamstress, developing a talent for design from a young age. After various experiences in the sector, he launched his first women's collection in 1978, which achieved immediate great success.
Versace quickly stood out for a bold, provocative, and luxurious style, characterized by vibrant colors, sensual cuts, baroque prints, and the use of precious materials. The Medusa logo, inspired by Greek mythology, became the symbol of the brand and its magnetic charm.
Versace baroque print denim shorts In the '80s and '90s, Versace revolutionized the concept of fashion, introducing the concept of the “supermodel,” dressing stars such as Madonna, Elton John, and Princess Diana, and collaborating with celebrities and artists. Its fashion merged art, pop culture, and innovation, becoming a global phenomenon.
On July 15, 1997, Gianni Versace was murdered in Miami, leaving the fashion world in shock. Creative direction passed to his sister Donatella Versace, who was already involved in the company, and who managed to keep her brother's spirit alive while introducing a more modern and feminine touch.
In 2018, the American group Capri Holdings (which also owns Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo) acquired Versace for approximately 2 billion dollars, with the aim of further expanding the brand globally.
Today, Versace continues to be a symbol of luxury, power, and audacity, with collections that unite tradition and innovation, keeping alive the creative legacy and unmistakable style of Gianni Versace.
