The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel wool and silk leggings
Chanel is one of the most iconic and influential fashion maisons in the world, founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in 1910 in Paris. She began as a milliner, opening a hat boutique on rue Cambon. Coco Chanel revolutionized women's clothing by introducing an essential, comfortable, and modern style, liberating women from the corsets and rigid garments of the era.

In the 1920s, Chanel launched creations that became legendary, such as the “petite robe noire” (the little black dress), a symbol of minimalist elegance, and the famous Chanel N°5 fragrance, created in 1921 in collaboration with perfumer Ernest Beaux. It was the first fragrance to bear a designer's name, becoming a timeless icon.
Chanel also introduced the use of jersey, a fabric previously reserved for menswear, creating practical and chic garments. Her understated style, inspired by the masculine wardrobe, reflected the vision of a free, modern, and independent woman.
After a hiatus during the Second World War, Coco Chanel returned to the scene in 1954, presenting her famous tweed suit with a collarless jacket and knee-length skirt, which became a pillar of the elegant women's wardrobe.
Following the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the brand went through an uncertain period until 1983, when Karl Lagerfeld became creative director. Lagerfeld reinvented Chanel for new generations, maintaining the maison's codes (tweed, pearls, camellia, black and white) and transforming it into a global luxury empire.
After Lagerfeld's death in 2019, the creative direction passed to Virginie Viard, who continues to reinterpret the Chanel heritage with contemporary sensibility.
Today, Chanel represents timeless elegance, uniting tradition, innovation, and unmistakable style.
