The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci by Tom Ford lurex trousers with waist belt
Gucci is one of the most iconic fashion maisons in the world. Founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci, the brand was initially established as a boutique specializing in luxury leather goods, inspired by English taste and destined for an aristocratic clientele. Guccio, who had worked as a porter at the Savoy Hotel in London, was fascinated by the elegance of the clientele and decided to bring that aesthetic to Italy.
Gucci by Tom Ford lurex trousers with waist belt. In the 1930s and '40s, Gucci became famous for the artisanal quality of its products. During the Second World War, due to material shortages, Gucci introduced the famous "hemp" fabric decorated with the diamond pattern, which remains a symbol of the maison today.
In the 1950s and '60s, thanks also to the contribution of Guccio's sons, Gucci expanded internationally, opening stores in New York, London, and Paris. During this period, icons such as the Bamboo bag and the bit loafer were born, becoming status symbols. Celebrities like Jackie Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor contributed to the brand's fame.
In the 1980s and '90s, family conflicts and management errors led to a decline in the brand's image. However, in the 2000s, under the creative direction of Tom Ford, Gucci regained momentum, becoming synonymous with sensuality and contemporary luxury.
From 2015 to 2022, Alessandro Michele revolutionized the brand with an eclectic and romantic style, leading it to new global successes. Today, Gucci is part of the French Kering group and is led by creative director Sabato De Sarno, with a vision of more sober and modern elegance.
The history of Gucci is an example of continuous evolution, blending Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and international cultural influences.
