The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel boiled wool mini dress
Chanel, one of the most famous fashion houses in the world, was founded in 1910 in Paris by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Born into a modest family, Coco revolutionized 20th-century fashion, liberating women from corsets and introducing an elegant, functional, and timeless style. The first boutique, located at 21 Rue Cambon, initially sold hats but soon expanded into fashion.
Chanel boiled wool mini dress In the 1920s, Chanel created iconic pieces such as the little black dress, the tweed suit, and the marinière top. Each piece was designed to combine comfort and sophistication, meeting the needs of modern women. Her minimalist yet luxurious style became a symbol of emancipation. In 1921, Coco launched the Chanel N°5 fragrance, which immediately became a classic thanks to its simple design and innovative scent.
During the Second World War, Chanel closed much of its operations, but re-emerged in 1954 with new collections. The tweed suit, with its collarless jacket and essential lines, became a brand symbol and a fashion cornerstone.
After Coco's death in 1971, the maison went through a period of uncertainty until the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld as creative director in 1983. Lagerfeld reinterpreted the Chanel codes with modernity, preserving its heritage while introducing innovative elements, such as the interlocking double C logo.
Today, Chanel is synonymous with luxury, elegance, and creativity. Under the guidance of Virginie Viard, it continues to be one of the most influential brands in the global landscape, keeping the legendary spirit of Coco Chanel alive.
