The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci silk flared trousers
Gucci is one of the most famous and influential luxury maisons in the world, a symbol of Italian craftsmanship excellence and sophisticated style. The brand was founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, who, after working in luxury hotels in London and Paris, developed a deep understanding of international elegance and aristocratic taste. Upon returning to Italy, he opened a small leather goods shop specializing in travel items and equestrian accessories, products that quickly won over the Italian high society clientele.
In the 1930s and 40s, Gucci began to distinguish itself through the quality of its materials and iconic details such as the horsebit, the green-red-green web, and the bamboo handle, created during the war period to compensate for the scarcity of traditional materials. These elements soon became recognizable symbols of the brand.
In the post-war period, the maison experienced rapid international expansion, opening boutiques in Milan, New York, Paris, and London. Celebrities, princesses, and Hollywood stars contributed to the brand's global fame, transforming Gucci into an emblem of Italian luxury. However, during the 1970s and 80s, the brand went through a complex period marked by family conflicts and financial difficulties.
The rebirth came in the 1990s thanks to the arrival of designer Tom Ford, who revolutionized the brand's image with a sensual and modern style. Subsequently, creative directors such as Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele have reinterpreted the Gucci identity, making it contemporary and innovative.
Today, Gucci is part of the Kering group and is considered one of the most prestigious brands in international fashion, synonymous with creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation.
