The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci by Tom Ford viscose cigarette trousers.
In 1989, I hired Dawn Mello as Vice President to revive the company's fortunes and restore the exclusivity that, over the last decade, had given way to mass production. In 1994, Tom Ford, a young Texan designer, was chosen as the maison's creative director.
Ford and Mello together relaunched the Tuscan brand[30], revisiting numerous fashion icons and completely redefining the brand's style.
The woman is sensual and provocative, often wearing leather, metal, and fur inserts; the advertising campaigns are equally provocative, such as the one featuring the maison's logo formed by a model's pubic hair.
Domenico De Sole, legal counsel to the Gucci family since the 1980s and appointed CEO of Gucci in 1994, overhauled the pricing of all products, gradually increasing the company's advertising budget from $6 million in 1993 to $70 million in 1997. In October 1995, the company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange with an initial share price set at $22. From 1995 to 1997, Investcorp sold its interests in Gucci for approximately $1.9 billion.
Gucci by Tom Ford viscose cigarette trousers. Seeking a way out of LVMH's control, Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole turned to French entrepreneur François Pinault.
head of the Pinault-Printemps-Redoute group and competitor to LVMH. in March of the same year, it came to own 40% of Gucci shares. PPR acquired Yves Saint Laurent from Sanofi and resold it to the Gucci group for the same price. this move would trigger a sort of cold war between PPR and LVMH.
