The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci Interlocking leather and web fabric belt

Gucci, founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence, is one of the most iconic and influential luxury brands in the world. Guccio, originally from Florence, began his career as a waiter in a luxury hotel in London, where he was inspired by the refinement of the guests. Upon returning to Florence, he opened a small shop specializing in high-quality leather goods, such as bags, suitcases, and accessories. His craftsmanship and attention to detail quickly made him famous, attracting the attention of the most affluent classes.

Gucci Interlocking leather and web fabric belt In the 1950s and '60s, Gucci became a global symbol of luxury, thanks in part to the creation of new iconic accessories such as the Jackie O bag and the double G belt. Celebrities like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor helped increase the brand's popularity. During this period, the distinctive double G logo was introduced, consolidating the brand's identity.

In 1989, Gucci became a publicly traded company, but in the 1990s it went through a difficult phase, marked by internal conflicts and management issues. The turning point came in 1994 with the arrival of Tom Ford as Creative Director. Ford revolutionized Gucci, bringing a bold and sensual design that attracted a new young audience, transforming the brand into a global powerhouse.

In 2015, Alessandro Michele took over as Creative Director, bringing a new eccentric and eclectic vision, blending vintage and contemporary styles. Today, Gucci is synonymous with innovation, luxury, and inclusivity, continuing to dominate the global fashion landscape.
