The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci metal and canvas Snake patch keychains

Gucci is one of the most iconic fashion houses in the world, founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci. Initially, the brand specialized in leather goods and luxury accessories, inspired by British elegance and high-quality Italian craftsmanship. After working as a porter in grand London hotels, Guccio Gucci was fascinated by the refinement of English travelers and wanted to bring that same elegance to Italy.

During the Second World War, due to material shortages, Gucci began using bamboo, creating the famous “Bamboo Bag,” which became a symbol of innovation and style.

In the 1950s and '60s, with international expansion and the opening of boutiques in New York, Gucci became a global brand. Its creations, such as the Horsebit loafer and the double G logo belt, became symbols of luxury and status. Celebrities like Jackie Kennedy and Grace Kelly adopted the brand, contributing to its growing popularity.

The 1980s and '90s saw the company go through turbulent times, with family feuds and financial difficulties. However, the turning point came in the 1990s under the creative direction of Tom Ford, who reinvented the brand with a bold and sensual style, bringing Gucci back to the heights of international fashion.

In 2004, Frida Giannini took over as creative director, followed in 2015 by Alessandro Michele, who once again revolutionized the brand's image with an eccentric and romantic aesthetic, blending past and present.

Today Gucci, part of the Kering group, is a global leader in the luxury sector, a symbol of creativity and innovation.
