The story of the piece

Emilio Pucci

Emilio Pucci wide-brimmed hat

Emilio Pucci, Marchese di Barsento, founded his namesake fashion maison in the post-war era, revolutionizing the world of prêt-à-porter with a fresh, dynamic, and unmistakable style. Born in Naples in 1914, Pucci was an aristocrat, an athlete, and a design enthusiast. During a holiday in Switzerland in 1947, he created a ski suit for a friend: a Harper’s Bazaar photographer noticed it, and the publication marked the beginning of his success.

Emilio Pucci wide-brimmed hat In 1949, he opened his first boutique in Capri, launching a fashion inspired by freedom, Mediterranean colors, and a holiday lifestyle. His lightweight garments, in silk or stretch jersey, were designed for the modern, dynamic woman who traveled and moved with elegance without sacrificing comfort.

Emilio Pucci's signature became the geometric and psychedelic prints, featuring vibrant colors and fluid lines, often inspired by Italian art, nature, and architecture. These motifs, simply dubbed “the Pucci prints,” captivated icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Sophia Loren, and Madonna.

In the 1960s, Pucci became a global icon: he dressed Braniff Airlines hostesses, NASA astronauts, and even European royalty. After his death in 1992, the brand was relaunched in the 2000s thanks to a new creative direction and the management of the LVMH group, which enhanced its original spirit.

Today, Emilio Pucci represents joyful, sophisticated, and timeless luxury. The maison continues to bring Italian elegance to the world through vibrant prints, innovative fabrics, and an unmistakable aesthetic, faithful to the pioneering vision of its founder.
