The story of the piece
Cartier
Cartier Trinity fountain pen in lacquer with gold-tone finishes
The Cartier maison was founded in 1847 in Paris by Louis-François Cartier, when he took over his master jeweler's atelier. From the very beginning, Cartier distinguished itself through the elegance of its creations and exceptional craftsmanship, quickly attracting an aristocratic clientele. Success grew further under the leadership of his son Alfred and grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who transformed the brand into an international reality.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, Cartier became known as "the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers," thanks to the numerous commissions received from European royal families. Louis Cartier contributed decisively to the maison's stylistic innovation, introducing modern wristwatches such as the famous Santos in 1904, one of the first wristwatches designed for aviation.
Cartier also stood out for its innovative use of materials and design, such as the introduction of platinum in jewelry and the development of the "Garland" style, characterized by light lines and floral motifs. In the following years, the maison continued to create iconic pieces, including the Love bracelet and the Tank watch, symbols of timeless elegance.
Throughout the 20th century, Cartier consolidated its global presence with boutiques in major luxury capitals. After a period of reorganization, the brand became part of the Richemont group, continuing to grow and innovate.
Today, Cartier is one of the most prestigious brands in the world in the jewelry and watchmaking sector. Its creations represent a perfect balance between tradition, innovation, and artisanal savoir-faire, maintaining a legacy of excellence that has lasted for over a century.
