The story of the piece
Hermès
Hermès carré The Royal Mews in seta
Hermès is one of the most prestigious and long-standing luxury maisons in the world. Its history began in 1837 in Paris, when Thierry Hermès founded a workshop specializing in the production of ultra-high-quality harnesses and saddles for the European nobility. Thanks to artisanal excellence and attention to detail, the company quickly gained an international reputation, becoming a benchmark for luxury equestrianism.
At the end of the 19th century, the maison progressively expanded its business, introducing travel items, suitcases, and leather accessories. With the move to the historic Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré location in Paris, which remains the heart of the brand today, Hermès consolidated its identity founded on quality, innovation, and artisanal savoir-faire.
Throughout the 20th century, the brand diversified its production, creating silk scarves, jewelry, watches, perfumes, prêt-à-porter, and accessories. In 1937, the famous silk carré was born, destined to become one of the symbols of the maison. In the following years, two of the most iconic bags in fashion history were created: the Kelly, made famous by Grace Kelly, and the Birkin, designed in 1984 in collaboration with Jane Birkin. Both models are today considered true icons of global luxury.
Hermès has always maintained limited production, entrusted to highly specialized master artisans who create each piece using techniques passed down through time. This philosophy guarantees extremely high quality standards and contributes to the exclusivity of its products.
