The story of the piece

Fendi

Fendi FF Zucca t-shirt

Fendi is an Italian luxury fashion maison founded in Rome in 1925 by Edoardo and Adele Fendi. Initially, the company was a small boutique specializing in leather goods and furs, located in via del Plebiscito. Over the years, Fendi has established itself as a brand of excellence, thanks to its artisanal quality and design innovation.

In 1946, the founders' five daughters—Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda—joined the company, helping to transform Fendi into an international name. In the 1960s, the meeting with the young German designer Karl Lagerfeld was decisive for the brand's expansion and success. Lagerfeld introduced the famous “FF” (Fun Furs) logo and revolutionized the concept of fur, transforming it from a static status symbol into a dynamic and innovative fashion element.

The 1970s saw the brand's expansion into the international market, with the opening of stores worldwide. Fendi's first prêt-à-porter collection was launched in 1977, followed by a line of accessories and clothing. In the 1980s and '90s, the brand continued to grow, also thanks to collaborations with world-renowned artists and designers.

In 2001, the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) acquired a majority stake in Fendi, integrating it into its portfolio of luxury brands. This acquisition further consolidated Fendi's position in the global market, allowing it to further expand its product lines and open new boutiques worldwide.

Today, Fendi is renowned not only for its furs and leather goods but also for its clothing, footwear, bags, and accessories collections. With Silvia Venturini Fendi, granddaughter of the founders, at the creative helm, the brand continues to celebrate innovation and craftsmanship, keeping the Fendi family legacy alive.
