The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel silk satin Camellia brooch
Chanel was founded in Paris in the early 1900s by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, one of the most revolutionary figures in fashion history. After a difficult childhood spent in an orphanage, Coco Chanel began her career in 1910 by opening a hat boutique in Paris. Her simple and elegant style quickly conquered French high society, leading her to expand her business with boutiques in Deauville and Biarritz.
In the 1920s, Chanel revolutionized women's fashion by introducing practical dresses, essential lines, and comfortable fabrics such as jersey, which until then had been used mainly in menswear. Coco Chanel freed women from corsets and proposed a new concept of modern elegance based on simplicity, freedom, and refinement. In 1921, the famous Chanel N°5 perfume was born, destined to become one of the most iconic fragrances in the world.
Over the years, the maison introduced legendary creations such as the tweed suit, the quilted 2.55 bag with gold chain, and the classic little black dress, timeless symbols of Chanel style. After the maison closed during the Second World War, Coco Chanel returned in 1954, bringing the brand back to international success.
Following the founder's death in 1971, Chanel underwent a period of transition until the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld in 1983. Lagerfeld reinterpreted the maison's historical codes with a modern and creative style, transforming Chanel into one of the most influential brands in contemporary luxury. Subsequently, creative direction passed to Virginie Viard, who continues to honor the maison's heritage.
Today, Chanel represents the excellence of French fashion, a synonym for timeless elegance, craftsmanship, and innovation.
