The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci Thin Band Ring in Black

Gucci is one of the most famous and influential fashion maisons in the world, founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. After working as a porter at the Hotel Savoy in London, Guccio was inspired by the elegance of the British clientele and decided to create a line of high-quality leather goods upon his return to Italy. Initially, Gucci specialized in luggage and leather accessories, quickly gaining a reputation for craftsmanship and refined design.

Gucci Thin Band Ring in Black. In the 1930s and '40s, the brand introduced the famous green and red stripe pattern, inspired by horse saddle webbing, and the double “GG” logo, representing the founder's initials. These distinctive elements became synonymous with luxury and status.

In the post-war period, Gucci expanded internationally, opening boutiques in New York, London, and Paris. In the 1950s, the “Bamboo” bag and the horsebit loafers became brand icons, cherished by celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy and Grace Kelly.

The 1980s were a turbulent period for Gucci, marked by internal family struggles and a financial crisis. However, the arrival of Tom Ford as creative director in 1994 marked a rebirth for the brand. Ford introduced a sexy and modern style, transforming Gucci into a symbol of contemporary glamour.

In 2004, Frida Giannini took over as creative director, maintaining Ford's legacy while adding a touch of romanticism and femininity. Since 2015, Alessandro Michele has brought a new, eccentric, and innovative vision to the brand, blending past and present with a bohemian aesthetic rich in historical references.
