The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel acetate shield sunglasses
The story of Chanel begins with Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel, born on August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France. Raised in poverty, following the death of her mother and abandonment by her father, Coco spent part of her childhood in an orphanage, where she developed a strong sense of independence. In 1909, she opened her first hat shop in Paris, which quickly became popular among high-society women.

Her creations challenged the conventions of the era, eliminating corsets and promoting a simpler, more comfortable, and practical style. Her vision of women's fashion was based on freedom of movement and natural elegance.
In 1921, Chanel revolutionized the world of perfumery with the launch of the famous Chanel No. 5, a fragrance that immediately became a symbol of luxury and sophistication. From the 1920s onwards, Coco Chanel continued to innovate, creating the little black dress, the tweed suit, and the chain handbag—icons that have remained timeless.
After a hiatus during the Second World War, Chanel returned in 1954, relaunching her maison with new collections and confirming her status as a visionary designer. Coco Chanel passed away in 1971, but her legacy has continued to influence fashion. Today, Chanel is synonymous with luxury, timeless elegance, and innovation.
