The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci Lettering eyewear

Gucci is one of the most iconic fashion maisons in the world, founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921 in Florence, Italy. After working as a porter at the Savoy Hotel in London, Guccio was inspired by the elegance of the hotel's clientele and decided to return to Italy to create a line of luxury leather goods.

Initially, Gucci specialized in leather goods and equestrian accessories. The artisanal quality and attention to detail quickly made the brand's products famous. During the 1930s, the GG logo, the green-red-green stripes, and the diamond pattern became recognizable symbols of the brand.

In the 1950s, Gucci's fame grew even further when celebrities such as Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly were seen wearing its creations. This period also marked the opening of international boutiques in New York and London, cementing the brand's global presence.

However, in the 1970s and '80s, Gucci went through a family and management crisis, with internal power struggles that undermined its image. The turning point came in the 1990s with the arrival of designer Tom Ford, who transformed Gucci into a synonym for modern luxury and sexy glamour. His bold and provocative collections relaunched the brand, leading it to unprecedented commercial success.

Following Ford's departure in 2004, several designers succeeded him in creative leadership until the arrival of Alessandro Michele in 2015. Michele once again revolutionized Gucci's image with an eccentric and romantic style, celebrating eclecticism and diversity. His inclusive and innovative approach led to a brand renaissance, attracting a new generation of clients.

Today, Gucci continues to be a leader in the fashion industry, with a global footprint and an influence that embraces culture, art, and sustainability. The combination of artisanal tradition and creative innovation keeps Gucci at the forefront of contemporary luxury.
