The story of the piece
Saint Laurent
Saint Laurent Victoire acetate sunglasses
Saint Laurent, founded in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé, is one of the most famous and influential fashion brands in the world. Yves Saint Laurent, born in Oran, Algeria, in 1936, began his haute couture career working with Christian Dior, where, at just 21 years old, he became creative director following the death of the legendary designer. His skill and innovative vision led him to launch his own maison.
Saint Laurent Victoire acetate sunglasses. The debut of Saint Laurent was an immediate success, with its first collection, presented in 1962, acclaimed for its modernity and ability to reinvent women's fashion. Saint Laurent is renowned for transforming the female wardrobe, introducing menswear for women, such as the famous women's "le smoking" in 1966, a masterpiece that redefined the concept of elegance and female empowerment. His ability to blend the classic with the modern and to draw inspiration from various styles, from bohemian fashion to prêt-à-porter, has allowed him to captivate an international audience.
In 1971, Saint Laurent launched its prêt-à-porter line, which became an immediate sensation thanks to its accessibility and bold style. The brand created a unique fusion of art, culture, and fashion, attracting the attention of celebrities and the most prominent figures of the jet set.
After years of success, Yves Saint Laurent retired in 2002. The maison continued to thrive under the direction of other designers, including Hedi Slimane, who in 2012 changed the name of the maison to "Saint Laurent". The brand continues to be a symbol of luxury, elegance, and innovation.
