The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci rectangular metal sunglasses
Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. After working as a porter at the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London, Guccio was fascinated by the elegance of the English aristocracy and decided to open a leather goods and travel accessories shop inspired by that style.

During the autarkic period in Italy, when leather was scarce, the maison distinguished itself through creativity, introducing alternative materials such as canvas, decorated with iconic patterns like the diamond and, subsequently, the famous green-red-green ribbon.
In the 1950s, Gucci expanded internationally, opening boutiques in New York, London, and Paris. Timeless symbols were born, such as the horsebit loafer and the Bamboo bag, beloved by icons like Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.
In the 1980s and '90s, Gucci went through a period of family and management crisis, until it was relaunched thanks to the creative direction of Tom Ford, who transformed the brand into an icon of sensuality and modernity.
In 2004, the Gucci group was acquired by Kering (formerly PPR), the French luxury giant. From 2015 to 2022, under the direction of Alessandro Michele, Gucci experienced a new rebirth: its eccentric, genderless, and retro style captured a new generation.
Today, Gucci is one of the most influential fashion brands in the world, known for its blend of Italian heritage and contemporary vision. Headquartered in Florence with a global heart, it continues to innovate while respecting its history, combining craftsmanship, sustainability, and boundless creativity.
