In the 1920s, Chanel redefined modern elegance forever with creations destined to become iconic: the little black dress, a symbol of universal sophistication; the use of jersey, previously reserved for menswear; and the tweed suit, which embodies an independent and sophisticated femininity. In 1921, she launched Chanel N°5, the first abstract perfume in history, destined to become a global luxury legend.

The maison grew rapidly in the 1930s, but World War II led to a temporary closure of operations. Coco Chanel returned in 1954 with a collection that reaffirmed her stylistic codes: the 2.55 bag with chain strap, two-tone ballet flats, pearls, and the camellia became symbols of a timeless style.

Following the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the brand underwent a period of transition until 1983, when Karl Lagerfeld took over as creative director. Lagerfeld reinvented Chanel with irony and modernity, transforming it into one of the most powerful and influential maisons in the world, while respecting its heritage.

Since 2019, the creative direction has been entrusted to Virginie Viard, who continues the tradition with a more intimate and contemporary style.
