Chanel is one of the most prestigious and influential fashion houses in the world. It was founded in 1910 in Paris by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, a designer who revolutionized women's fashion by introducing an elegant, practical, and modern style. After opening her first hat shop, Coco Chanel rapidly expanded her business, offering garments characterized by simple lines and comfortable fabrics, in contrast to the rigid fashion of the era.
In the 1920s, the maison achieved international success thanks to innovative creations such as the famous tweed suit, the little black dress (Little Black Dress), and the fragrance Chanel N°5, launched in 1921 and still one of the most famous and best-selling in the world today. Coco Chanel helped make women's fashion freer, eliminating corsets and overly elaborate dresses and introducing a refined yet functional style.
After a hiatus during the Second World War, Chanel returned to the fashion world in 1954, presenting new collections that captivated the international public. Her timeless style continued to influence generations of designers and to represent a benchmark for elegance.
Following the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the maison continued its growth. In 1983, creative director Karl Lagerfeld revitalized the brand by reinterpreting the maison's classic codes with a modern and innovative style, contributing to the brand's great international success. Since 2019, the creative direction has been entrusted to Virginie Viard, who has continued this journey by enhancing the founder's legacy.
