The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel Rodeo Drive suede hobo shoulder bag
The Chanel maison was born from the revolutionary intuition of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, one of the most influential figures in 20th-century fashion. After a difficult childhood, Coco began her career as a milliner in Paris, opening her first shop, “Chanel Modes”, in 1910. Success came quickly thanks to her modern and minimalist vision, which stood in contrast to the opulent style of the era.
In the 1920s, Chanel radically changed the concept of femininity: she introduced comfortable suits, jersey dresses, clean lines, and neutral colors, bringing an idea of practical and free fashion. In 1921, she launched Chanel N°5, a fragrance that was innovative in both its olfactory structure and its communication: it became the absolute icon of women's perfume.
The brand continued to evolve with creations that became legendary: the tweed suit, the little black dress, and the 2.55 bag with its iconic chain and closure. Coco Chanel succeeded in uniting timeless elegance and functionality, transforming every piece into a cultural symbol.
After her death in 1971, the maison risked a creative decline, until in the 1980s Karl Lagerfeld took over as artistic director. With a bold and contemporary approach, he relaunched the brand while maintaining the founder's essence. Lagerfeld reinvented tweed, the double C logo, and the Chanel style, transforming the maison into a global luxury powerhouse.
Today, Chanel continues to be synonymous with elegance and innovation. Under the post-Lagerfeld creative direction, the brand evolves while respecting its original codes: simplicity, comfort, and modern femininity. Its lines—Haute Couture, prêt-à-porter, leather goods, fragrances, cosmetics, and jewelry—represent the excellence of French luxury.
