The story of the piece

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Monogram silk pochette

The story of Louis Vuitton began in 1854 in Paris, when Louis Vuitton opened his first atelier dedicated to creating travel trunks. In an era marked by the expansion of rail and sea travel, Vuitton revolutionized the industry by introducing flat-topped, lightweight, and stackable trunks covered in waterproof canvas. This practical and refined innovation quickly captivated the European aristocracy.

In 1896, his son Georges Vuitton created the iconic Monogram LV with floral motifs, designed to protect the brand from imitations. Throughout the 20th century, models were born that would become symbols of luxury, such as the Speedy and the Keepall, combining functionality with timeless style.

In 1987, Louis Vuitton joined the LVMH group, strengthening its international expansion. A major turning point came in 1997 with the appointment of Marc Jacobs as creative director: for the first time, the maison introduced prêt-à-porter, expanding its offering beyond leather goods.

In the following years, creatives such as Nicolas Ghesquière and Virgil Abloh reinterpreted the brand's heritage with an innovative and contemporary vision.

Today, Louis Vuitton is one of the most influential brands in the world, a symbol of craftsmanship, tradition, and continuous evolution in the global luxury landscape.
