The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci square logo sunglasses
Gucci is one of the most iconic luxury fashion brands in the world. It was founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci, who initially opened a shop selling leather goods and luggage inspired by the English equestrian style he had admired while working as a porter at the Savoy Hotel in London.

In the 1950s and '60s, with the entry of Guccio's sons into the company, the brand expanded internationally, opening boutiques in Rome, New York, London, and Paris. During this period, some of the brand's most recognizable symbols were born: the green-red-green ribbon, the GG logo, and the morsetto bag, inspired by the world of equestrianism.
In the 1980s and early '90s, Gucci faced an internal crisis due to family disputes and management difficulties. The revival came with the arrival of designer Tom Ford in 1994, who revolutionized the brand's image with a sexy, modern, and provocative style, bringing Gucci back to the center of international fashion.
Subsequently, with creative directors such as Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele, the brand has been able to reinvent itself, maintaining a balance between heritage and innovation. In particular, Michele defined an era with an eclectic, romantic, and genderless style.
Today Gucci is part of the Kering group and is directed by Sabato De Sarno (since 2023), who has refocused the brand on elegance and simplicity.
Gucci represents contemporary luxury, with deep Italian roots, a history of transformation, and an ever-evolving identity.
