The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci acetate Cat Eye sunglasses

Gucci is one of the most famous and influential fashion maisons in the world, a symbol of luxury, craftsmanship, and innovation. Founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, the brand began as a workshop specializing in high-quality leather goods, luggage, and equestrian accessories, inspired by the elegance of the international clientele Guccio observed while working at the Savoy Hotel in London.

Gucci acetate Cat Eye sunglasses In the 1930s, Gucci introduced elements that would become iconic: the green-red-green web, inspired by horse saddle webbing, and the horsebit, both symbols of the maison's equestrian heritage. During the Second World War, due to material shortages, Gucci began using bamboo for handbag handles, giving birth to the legendary Bamboo bag, which remains beloved to this day.

With international expansion from the 1950s onwards, Gucci opened boutiques in New York, London, Paris, and other fashion capitals, becoming the go-to brand for celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor. Iconic models like the Jackie bag were also born during those years.

After several crises and family tensions in the 1980s and '90s, Gucci was revitalized by designer Tom Ford, who brought a wave of sensuality, audacity, and glamour starting in 1994. His provocative style transformed Gucci into a global cultural and commercial phenomenon.

From 2015 to 2022, Alessandro Michele redefined the brand's identity with an eclectic, romantic, and gender-fluid style, winning over a new generation of consumers. Following his departure, the maison continues to evolve under new creative directions.

Today, Gucci, part of the Kering group, remains a symbol of excellence and creativity, with an Italian heritage that continues to influence international fashion.
