The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci sunglasses Havana acetate Cat Eye
Gucci is one of the most iconic fashion maisons in the world, founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci. Inspired by his experience as a porter at the Hotel Savoy in London, where he admired the luggage of aristocratic travelers, Guccio opened a small leather goods workshop in via della Vigna Nuova, giving birth to a brand that would revolutionize Italian luxury.
Gucci sunglasses Havana acetate Cat Eye In the 1930s, Gucci introduced the diamond pattern canvas, a precursor to the famous GG monogram, and began producing equestrian accessories, consolidating its reputation for craftsmanship and elegance. In the post-war period, under the guidance of his sons Aldo, Vasco, and Rodolfo, the maison expanded internationally, opening stores in New York and Paris and winning over celebrities such as Grace Kelly and Jacqueline Kennedy.
The 1970s marked Gucci's entry into ready-to-wear, while in the 1980s and '90s the brand faced internal challenges, including family conflicts and the tragic death of Maurizio Gucci in 1995, murdered by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. Despite this, Gucci continued to thrive, thanks to creative directors such as Tom Ford, who in the 1990s brought the brand back into the spotlight with a bold and sensual style.
In 2015, Alessandro Michele became creative director, introducing an eclectic and inclusive aesthetic that redefined the concept of luxury. Following his departure in 2022, Sabato De Sarno took over the creative direction, bringing a minimalist and refined vision. In 2025, Demna Gvasalia was appointed new creative director, marking another chapter in the evolution of the maison.
Today, Gucci remains a symbol of innovation, craftsmanship, and timeless style, continuing to influence global fashion with its unique vision and its commitment to sustainability and inclusivity.
