The story of the piece
Emilio Pucci
Emilio Pucci patterned silk t-shirt
Emilio Pucci is one of the most iconic names in Italian fashion, renowned for its vibrant prints, bold colors, and an elegant, fluid style that revolutionized prêt-à-porter. Born in Naples in 1914, Emilio Pucci came from a noble Florentine family. After a career as an Olympic skier and international studies, he approached the world of fashion in an unexpected way.
Emilio Pucci patterned silk t-shirt. His debut took place in 1947 when he designed a ski suit for a friend photographed by Harper’s Bazaar. Success was immediate: the practicality and dynamism of his sportswear fascinated the public and led him to found his own maison in 1949, in Capri.
In the 1950s and '60s, Pucci conquered the international jet-set with his lightweight, colorful, and fluidly lined dresses, designed for an elegant yet active, cosmopolitan, and free woman. His geometric and psychedelic prints, inspired by art, architecture, and Mediterranean landscapes, became his stylistic signature and defined an era.
Considered the “prince of prints,” Emilio Pucci was also an innovator in materials, using elastic and comfortable fabrics such as silk jersey, ahead of his time. His garments were designed for movement and modernity, in contrast to the rigid fashion of the post-war period.
In the following years, the brand expanded to include accessories, fragrances, and menswear collections. After Pucci's death in 1992, the maison was relaunched by various creative directors and today is part of the LVMH group.
Emilio Pucci remains a symbol of creativity, sunny elegance, and the Italian spirit, with its iconic prints still playing a leading role in international fashion.
