The story of the piece

Chanel

Chanel fabric Camellia brooch

Chanel is one of the most celebrated and influential fashion maisons in the world, a symbol of elegance, innovation, and refinement. Its history began in 1910, when Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel opened her first hat atelier in Paris. Thanks to her talent and revolutionary vision, Coco Chanel profoundly transformed 20th-century women's fashion, introducing a more practical and modern style compared to the standards of the era.

In the 1920s, Chanel became the benchmark for a new idea of femininity. Coco eliminated corsets and excessively rigid garments, favoring simple lines, comfortable fabrics, and a freer silhouette. Among her most iconic creations are the famous Chanel N°5 perfume, launched in 1921, and the “little black dress,” the black sheath dress that revolutionized the female wardrobe, becoming a symbol of timeless elegance.

After the Second World War, Chanel temporarily closed the maison, before returning to the scene in 1954 with a collection that achieved enormous international success. During this period, some of the brand's most representative symbols were born, such as the tweed suit and the legendary 2.55 bag, characterized by its chain strap and sophisticated design.

Upon the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the maison continued its journey, keeping the founder's aesthetic codes alive. In 1983, creative direction passed to Karl Lagerfeld, who reinterpreted the brand's heritage in a contemporary way, helping to make it even more influential in the global luxury landscape.

Today, Chanel is one of the most prestigious entities in international fashion. With collections of haute couture, prêt-à-porter, jewelry, watches, perfumes, and accessories, the maison continues to embody the values of excellence, creativity, and style that Coco Chanel made immortal, maintaining a central role in the contemporary luxury universe.
