The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel CC logo terry cloth and lurex espadrilles
Chanel was officially founded in 1910 in Paris by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, one of the most revolutionary figures in fashion history. After a difficult childhood spent in an orphanage, Coco began her career as a singer in French cafés, from which she derived the nickname “Coco”. With the support of entrepreneur Arthur Capel, she opened her first hat shop on Rue Cambon, quickly conquering Parisian high society with elegant and innovative creations.
In the 1920s, Chanel transformed the way women dressed, introducing simple garments, essential lines, and comfortable fabrics like jersey, which until then had been used mainly for menswear. Coco liberated women from corsets and promoted a refined yet practical style, a symbol of independence and modernity. In 1921, she launched the famous Chanel N°5 perfume, destined to become one of the most iconic fragrances in the world.
Among the maison's most famous creations are the tweed suit, the matelassé bag with gold chain, and the “little black dress,” the black dress that revolutionized feminine elegance. During the Second World War, the designer temporarily closed the maison, returning in 1954 with a collection that brought Chanel back to the heights of international fashion.
After the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the brand went through a difficult period until the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld in 1983. The German designer reinterpreted the maison's heritage with a contemporary style, making Chanel one of the most influential brands in global luxury. Today, Chanel continues to represent elegance, innovation, and craftsmanship, keeping the revolutionary spirit of its founder alive.
