The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci Screener GG Crystal leather sneakers
The story of Gucci began in 1921 in Florence, when Guccio Gucci founded a leather goods company inspired by the world of equestrianism and the luxury of the English aristocracy. Initially specializing in artisanal luggage, Gucci soon became synonymous with “Made in Italy” elegance and quality. In the '30s, iconic symbols such as the horsebit buckle and the green-red-green web, inspired by horse saddles, were born.

It was during this period that the Bamboo bag, which became an icon, was created. In the '60s and '70s, Gucci won over Hollywood stars and luxury clientele, strengthening its global status.
However, in the '80s and '90s, the company was marked by family feuds and a loss of creative identity, culminating in the tragic murder of Maurizio Gucci in 1995. The rebirth came thanks to designer Tom Ford, who from 1994 gave the brand a sexy, modern, and provocative turn, bringing it back to the heights of international fashion.
In 2004, creative direction passed to Frida Giannini, followed in 2015 by Alessandro Michele, whose eclectic and romantic style revolutionized the brand. Under the leadership of Michele and CEO Marco Bizzarri, Gucci experienced a cultural and commercial boom, becoming a symbol of inclusivity, gender fluidity, and sustainability.
In 2022, Alessandro Michele left the role of creative director, opening a new phase for the brand. Today, Gucci is part of the Kering group and continues to be one of the absolute protagonists of global luxury, blending artisanal tradition, innovation, and a contemporary vision.
