The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci Guccissima leather open-toe pumps
The history of Gucci begins in 1921 in Florence, when Guccio Gucci founded a small leather goods shop, specializing in the production of luxury bags and luggage. Guccio, who had worked in a high-class hotel in London, decided to transfer the experience acquired in creating refined, high-quality products. His attention to detail and selection of precious materials allowed him to stand out from the very beginning.
Gucci Guccissima leather open toe pumps. In the 1930s and '40s, the brand grew thanks to the increasing demand for exclusive products. During the Second World War, Gucci faced difficulties related to material shortages, but responded with creativity, launching the famous canvas with the “double G” logo and green and red stripes, which would become distinctive symbols of the brand. In 1953, the maison opened its first store in Rome, followed by New York, and began to gain international recognition.
In 1970, Gucci became a symbol of luxury and opulence, worn by celebrities and members of royal families. In the '80s and '90s, the company went through difficulties due to family conflicts and financial struggles. However, in 1994, Tom Ford was appointed creative director and brought a breath of fresh air with bold and sensual collections, relaunching the brand.
In 2004, Gucci was acquired by the Kering group, and in 2015 Alessandro Michele became creative director. Michele introduced an eclectic and innovative style that blends vintage and modern elements, bringing Gucci back to the center of the global fashion scene. Today, Gucci is one of the most influential and prestigious brands in the international landscape.
