The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci satin and crystal stiletto heel and platform sandals
The history of Gucci began in 1921 in Florence, when Guccio Gucci founded a small workshop specializing in high-quality travel goods and leather goods. Inspired by the elegance observed during his work in European luxury hotels, Guccio developed a refined style that combines Italian craftsmanship with international influences.
In the 1930s and '40s, despite the difficulties related to the war, the brand introduced innovative materials such as bamboo, giving rise to the famous Bamboo Bag. In the post-war period, Gucci grew rapidly and became a symbol of prestige and elegance. In the 1950s and '60s, it opened boutiques in New York, London, and Paris, winning over an international clientele of celebrities and aristocrats.
The 1970s and '80s marked a difficult period, characterized by family tensions and fragmented management that weakened the brand's image. The turning point came in the '90s with the arrival of Tom Ford as creative director, who relaunched Gucci with a sensual, modern, and provocative style.
Subsequently, the brand became part of the Kering group, consolidating its global position. In the 2010s, under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, Gucci adopted an eclectic and romantic aesthetic, winning over a new generation.
Today Gucci is one of the most influential luxury brands, capable of reinventing itself while maintaining strong artisanal roots and a distinctive identity in the international fashion landscape.
