The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel metal necklace with CC pendant and pearls
Chanel is one of the most influential and prestigious fashion maisons in the world. Founded in 1910 in Paris by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, the fashion house was initially established as a millinery shop, immediately distinguishing itself through an elegant and innovative style. Coco Chanel revolutionized 20th-century womenswear, liberating women from rigid corsets and introducing practical, refined, and comfortable garments.
In the 1920s, Chanel consolidated its success with creations destined to become iconic. Notable among these are the famous Chanel N°5 fragrance, launched in 1921 and still among the best-selling fragrances in the world, and the “little black dress,” the black sheath dress that transformed a simple garment into a symbol of timeless elegance. The Chanel style was characterized by clean lines, innovative fabrics such as jersey, and a modern approach to femininity.
After closing operations during the Second World War, Coco Chanel returned in 1954, presenting a new collection that achieved enormous international success. During this period, some of the maison's most recognizable symbols were born, such as the tweed suit and the 2.55 quilted bag.
Upon the founder's death in 1971, Chanel continued its business, keeping its creative legacy alive. In 1983, the artistic direction was entrusted to Karl Lagerfeld, who reinterpreted the maison's codes through a contemporary lens, contributing to strengthening its global prestige. Following his passing, the creative leadership passed to Virginie Viard.
Today, Chanel represents the excellence of French luxury, with collections of haute couture, prêt-à-porter, accessories, jewelry, watches, and fragrances. The maison continues to embody the values of elegance, innovation, and sophistication that Coco Chanel made famous worldwide.
