The story of the piece
Fendi
Fendi vintage Zucca canvas and leather suitcase
Fendi is one of the most prestigious Italian luxury maisons, founded in Rome in 1925 by Adele Casagrande Fendi and Edoardo Fendi. The company began as a workshop specializing in leather goods and furs, immediately distinguishing itself through artisanal excellence and the quality of its materials. Thanks to the mastery of its founders, the brand quickly gained a sophisticated clientele, becoming a benchmark of Roman elegance.
In the 1940s and 50s, the five daughters of the Fendi family – Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda – joined the company, helping to transform it into an international brand. The turning point came in 1965, when the maison entrusted the creative direction to Karl Lagerfeld. The designer revolutionized the concept of fur, making it lighter, more modern, and innovative, and created the famous FF (Fun Fur) logo, destined to become one of the most recognizable symbols in global fashion.
In the 1990s, Fendi further consolidated its success with the launch of the legendary Baguette Bag, designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997. Considered one of the first “It Bags” in history, the Baguette became a fashion icon also thanks to its presence in the television series Sex and the City. Since then, the brand has continued to innovate through collections of clothing, bags, footwear, accessories, jewelry, and haute couture, always maintaining a perfect balance between tradition and experimentation.
