The story of the piece

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandoulière 55 travel bag

Louis Vuitton is one of the most prestigious luxury maisons in the world, a symbol of elegance, craftsmanship, and innovation. Its history began in 1854, when the young French artisan Louis Vuitton opened his first workshop in Paris, specializing in the creation of trunks and travel luggage. After a long apprenticeship as a trunk maker with Monsieur Maréchal, Vuitton developed an innovative vision of modern travel, creating products that were lighter, more resistant, and more functional than those existing at the time.

In 1858, he introduced the famous flat-top trunk covered in Trianon canvas, a revolution for the era as it was easily stackable during train and ship travel. Success was immediate, and the brand grew rapidly.

Upon the founder's death in 1892, his son Georges Vuitton took the reins of the company and accelerated its international expansion. In 1896, he created the famous Monogram Canvas pattern with the initials "LV", born to counter imitations and destined to become one of the most recognizable symbols in global fashion.

Throughout the twentieth century, Louis Vuitton expanded its offering by introducing iconic models such as Keepall, Noé, Alma, and Speedy, progressively transforming from a travel goods manufacturer into a global fashion house.

A decisive moment arrived in 1987 with the birth of the LVMH group, the result of the merger between Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy. In the following years, thanks to creative directors such as Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, and Pharrell Williams, the brand strengthened its presence in prêt-à-porter, accessories, and artistic collaborations.
