The story of the piece
Fendi
Fendi Zucca canvas and leather platform sandals
Fendi is one of the most prestigious Italian fashion and leather goods maison, recognized worldwide for its artisanal excellence, creativity, and innovation. Founded in Rome in 1925 by Adele Fendi and her husband Edoardo Fendi, the company began as a small workshop specializing in leather and fur craftsmanship. From its early days, the brand stood out for the quality of its materials and attention to detail, quickly winning over a sophisticated clientele.
In the 1960s, the founders' five daughters joined the management of the company and contributed to its international expansion. A decisive turning point came in 1965 with the appointment of Karl Lagerfeld as creative director. Lagerfeld revolutionized the concept of fur, transforming a traditional garment into a symbol of modernity and experimentation. It was he who created the famous FF logo, known as Fun Fur, which became one of the most recognizable emblems of the maison.
Over the years, Fendi expanded its production by introducing prêt-à-porter collections, footwear, accessories, jewelry, and fragrances. Among its most iconic creations are the Baguette, launched in 1997 and becoming one of the most famous bags in fashion history, and the Peekaboo, a symbol of elegance and craftsmanship.
In 2001, Fendi joined the LVMH group, further strengthening its presence in international markets. Following the long creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld, the maison has continued to evolve thanks to the contribution of Silvia Venturini Fendi, heir to the founding family and responsible for numerous iconic creations, and subsequently Kim Jones, who has led the women's and haute couture collections, reinterpreting the maison's codes with a contemporary style.
