The story of the piece
Fendi
Fendi Zucchino vinyl Baguette shoulder bag
Fendi was founded in Rome in 1925 when Adele and Edoardo Fendi opened a small leather and fur workshop on via del Plebiscito. Thanks to artisanal quality and innovation in materials, the shop quickly became a reference point for Roman clientele. In the '40s and '50s, the couple's five daughters — Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda — joined the company, bringing creative energy and a modern vision that would transform the maison into an international brand.
The turning point came in 1965, when Fendi entrusted the creative direction of furs to the young Karl Lagerfeld. He revolutionized the brand's image, proposing lightweight, colorful, and ironic furs, far from the austere tradition of the sector. It was during this period that the famous double F logo, known as Fun Fur, was born, a symbol of innovative and playful luxury. Simultaneously, the Fendi sisters developed the leather goods line, introducing bags that would become iconic for their design and functionality.
In the '90s, with Silvia Venturini Fendi, the maison launched accessories destined to enter fashion history, including the legendary 1997 Baguette: a revolutionary it-bag that transformed accessory fashion and anticipated the concept of luxury collecting.
In 2001, Fendi became part of the LVMH group, which supports the brand's international expansion. In the following years, the maison consolidated its identity through prêt-à-porter, accessories, and footwear, always maintaining a balance between Roman craftsmanship, innovation, and creativity.
