The story of the piece
Christian Dior
Dior Dior Book Tote Medium jacquard canvas bag
The Dior maison was founded in 1946, when the French designer Christian Dior established the fashion house in Paris, with the support of industrialist Marcel Boussac. The debut took place in February 1947 with the first collection, called “Corolle”, which was immediately dubbed “New Look” by the press: a stylistic revolution that celebrated femininity with full skirts, cinched waists, and soft shoulders, breaking away from the austerity of post-war fashion.
Dior Dior Book Tote Medium jacquard canvas bag. Success was immediate. Dior became a symbol of luxury, elegance, and sophistication, attracting an international clientele, including members of nobility and celebrities. In the following years, Christian Dior opened boutiques worldwide and diversified its offering with accessories, fragrances (such as the iconic Miss Dior), and cosmetics.
Following the premature death of the designer in 1957, at only 52 years old, the maison entrusted the creative direction to the young and talented Yves Saint Laurent, who continued the success with a fresh and modern style. In the following years, other designers followed, including Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano (from 1996 to 2011), Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first woman to lead the maison since 2016.
Under the ownership of the LVMH group, Dior has expanded to become one of the most important brands in the global fashion landscape, with collections of haute couture, prêt-à-porter, accessories, bags, and fragrances.
Today, the maison represents a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, preserving the legacy of its founder and renewing it with every season. Dior shows are among the most anticipated in the fashion world, continuing to dictate style and vision.
