The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel large quilted leather 2.55 bag
The story of Chanel began in the early twentieth century with Coco Chanel, born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel. After a difficult childhood, Gabrielle opened a hat boutique in Paris in 1910. Her simple and innovative style quickly conquered the French elite, marking a break from the rigid and decorative women's fashion of the era.
In the 1920s, Chanel revolutionized the female wardrobe by introducing essential lines, comfortable fabrics, and understated elegance. In 1921, she launched the famous Chanel No. 5, a fragrance destined to become a global icon. A few years later, she introduced the “little black dress,” transforming black into a symbol of modern chic.
After the Second World War, the maison underwent a period of hiatus, but in 1954 Coco Chanel returned to the scene with the legendary tweed suit, characterized by clean lines and great freedom of movement. In 1955, the Chanel 2.55 bag was born, with its chain strap and rectangular closure, destined to become one of the most famous models ever.
After Coco's death in 1971, the house went through a transitional phase until, in 1983, Karl Lagerfeld took over creative direction, reinterpreting historical codes through a contemporary lens. Since 2019, the creative leadership has passed to Virginie Viard.
Today, Chanel represents a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, a timeless symbol of elegance, femininity, and luxury.
