The story of the piece
Valentino
Valentino Garavani VLogo leather wallet
Valentino Garavani is one of the most famous and influential Italian designers in fashion history. Born in Voghera on May 11, 1932, he showed a great passion for drawing and elegance from a young age. After studying fashion in Paris at prestigious institutes such as the École des Beaux-Arts and the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, he worked for important French maisons before returning to Italy.
In 1960, he founded his fashion house in Rome together with his partner Giancarlo Giammetti, who became his main collaborator and business partner. Within a few years, the Valentino brand achieved international fame thanks to a refined style characterized by elegant lines, precious fabrics, and great attention to detail. A distinctive element of his collections is the famous “Rosso Valentino,” an intense shade that has become a symbol of the brand.
His creations dressed some of the most famous women in the world, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, and numerous princesses and queens. Valentino was admired for his ability to enhance femininity with sophisticated and timeless dresses, becoming one of the protagonists of international haute couture.
Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and contributed to spreading the excellence of Made in Italy worldwide. In 2007, he announced his retirement from the runways and presented his final haute couture collection in January 2008 in Paris, closing a career that lasted over forty years.
