His son Georges Vuitton continued the expansion of the maison and in 1896 created the famous Monogram canvas, characterized by floral motifs and the “LV” initials. The canvas was created to combat imitations, but soon became one of the most recognizable and coveted symbols of global fashion.

Throughout the 20th century, Louis Vuitton expanded production to include suitcases, bags, accessories, and leather goods, building an identity founded on elegance, innovation, and artisanal savoir-faire. In 1987, the LVMH group was born, accompanying the maison towards global growth.

A fundamental turning point arrived in 1997 with the appointment of Marc Jacobs as creative director: he introduced prêt-à-porter and transformed Louis Vuitton into a complete fashion brand. Collaborations with artists such as Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami, and Richard Prince defined a new pop and cultural language that conquered the international audience.

In 2013, Nicolas Ghesquière took over as women's creative director, bringing a futuristic and sophisticated vision, while in menswear, the contribution of Virgil Abloh (2018–2021) marked an aesthetic revolution, merging streetwear and couture and expanding the brand's boundaries.
