The story of the piece
Gucci
Gucci bikini and pendant necklace
Gucci is one of the most famous Italian fashion maisons in the world, a symbol of luxury, craftsmanship, and innovation. Founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, it was initially a boutique specializing in high-quality leather goods and luggage, inspired by English aristocratic style. In the 1930s, the company introduced some of its iconic elements, such as the diamond motif and the bamboo handle.
Gucci bikini and pendant necklace During the post-war economic boom, Gucci became an international prestige brand. Guccio's children expanded the company, opening boutiques in Milan, New York, and Paris. In the 1950s and '60s, the maison was loved by stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Grace Kelly. During this period, the Jackie bag and the horsebit, which became a brand symbol, were born.
In the 1980s, the company's growth was accompanied by family tensions and management issues, culminating in the murder of Maurizio Gucci in 1995, an episode that marked a turbulent phase in the brand's history. It was during this period that Gucci was powerfully relaunched thanks to the creative direction of Tom Ford, who transformed the maison into an icon of sensuality and modern style.
The 2000s were followed by the creative directions of Frida Giannini and, from 2015 to 2022, Alessandro Michele, who revolutionized the brand's image with an eclectic, romantic, and genderless vision, bringing Gucci back to the center of contemporary fashion.
Today Gucci is part of the Kering group and continues to be a global benchmark for haute couture and lifestyle. With a heritage rich in symbols and an eye always turned toward the future, it represents the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
