The story of the piece
Chanel
Chanel suede and patent leather Camelia logo thong sandals
Chanel is one of the most prestigious and influential fashion houses in the world. Its history began in 1910, when Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, known as Coco Chanel, opened her first hat shop in Paris. Thanks to her talent and innovative vision, Coco revolutionized women's fashion, introducing simple, elegant, and comfortable clothing, in contrast to the rigid garments and corsets of the era.
In the 1920s, Chanel became a symbol of modernity and female independence. In 1921, she launched the famous perfume Chanel N°5, destined to become one of the most famous in the world. In 1926, she introduced the famous “little black dress”, considered an essential piece of the female wardrobe. She also introduced the use of jersey, a fabric previously used mainly for menswear, making it elegant and refined.
During the Second World War, Coco Chanel temporarily closed her maison. In 1954, she returned to the fashion world with a new collection and presented the celebrated Chanel suit, characterized by a collarless jacket and knee-length skirt, which became a style icon. In 1955, she also created the 2.55 bag, recognizable by its chain strap.
After the death of Coco Chanel in 1971, the maison went through a difficult period. In 1983, creative direction was entrusted to Karl Lagerfeld, who renewed the brand while keeping its values of elegance and refinement intact. Under his guidance, Chanel consolidated its international success. Following Lagerfeld's passing in 2019, creative direction passed to Virginie Viard, who continues to honor the founder's legacy.
