The story of the piece

Chanel

Chanel Cambon caviar leather ballet flats

Chanel is one of the most iconic and influential fashion maisons in the world, founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Born in 1883 in France, Coco began her career as a milliner in Paris, opening her first hat shop in 1910. Her innovative, simple, and functional style quickly won over the female clientele of high society.

Chanel Cambon caviar leather ballet flats In 1913, she opened a boutique in Deauville, introducing jersey, a fabric used only for underwear at the time. It was a revolution: Coco liberated women from corsets, offering comfortable, elegant, and modern garments. In the 1920s, she launched the “petite robe noire” (the little black dress), which became a symbol of timeless elegance, and Chanel N°5 perfume, one of the most famous in history.

Chanel created a unique style, characterized by tweed suits, pearls, clean lines, and high-quality materials. Her fashion was not just about aesthetics, but also a message of female empowerment. After a hiatus during World War II, Coco returned in 1954, relaunching her unmistakable style.

Upon her death in 1971, the brand went through a period of uncertainty until the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld in 1983. With his modern and provocative vision, Lagerfeld reinvented Chanel's codes, maintaining their elegance while making them contemporary and desirable for new generations. He remained creative director until his passing in 2019.

Today, under the leadership of Virginie Viard, Chanel continues to be a symbol of luxury, sophistication, and creativity. The maison is active in fashion, accessories, cosmetics, perfumery, and haute joaillerie, keeping alive the visionary spirit of Coco Chanel: timeless elegance, independence, and innovation.
