Between the 1970s and 1980s, Bottega Veneta attracted a sophisticated clientele, winning over international celebrities and personalities thanks to its quiet elegance. After a transitional period in the 1990s, the brand was acquired by the Gucci group (now Kering) in 2001, launching a new phase of global expansion.

The creative turning point came with Tomas Maier, creative director from 2001 to 2018. Maier revitalized the maison by restoring the centrality of craftsmanship, transforming the intrecciato into a contemporary language and creating accessories, bags, and prêt-à-porter defined by a subtle, refined, and timeless luxury. His collections elevated Bottega Veneta among the most respected brands on the international stage.

In 2018, Daniel Lee took over, bringing a breath of modernity and sensory minimalism. With creations such as the Pouch, the Stretch Sandals, and the evolution of the maxi intrecciato, Lee won over both critics and the public, redefining the brand as a protagonist of new luxury. Soft silhouettes, sculptural volumes, and saturated colors became iconic traits of his language.

Since 2021, the creative direction has been entrusted to Matthieu Blazy, who has further deepened the research into materials and artisanal craftsmanship, carrying forward the Venetian heritage with an intellectual and innovative approach.
