The story of the piece
Balmain
Balmain Flèche titanium sunglasses
Balmain is a historic French fashion maison founded in 1945 in Paris by Pierre Balmain, a designer renowned for his elegant, sophisticated, and architectural style. After World War II, Balmain became one of the most influential names in haute couture, helping to redefine feminine elegance in the post-war era. His style was defined as "Jolie Madame": cinched waists, structured shoulders, and voluminous skirts that enhanced classic femininity.
Pierre Balmain dressed many celebrities and prominent figures, including Ava Gardner, Brigitte Bardot, and Queen Sirikit of Thailand, making the brand a symbol of refinement and luxury.
In 2006, a radical shift occurred with the arrival of designer Christophe Decarnin, who reinterpreted Balmain through a rock and modern lens: strong shoulders, miniskirts, studs, and a glamour-aggressive style that captivated young audiences and international stars.
In 2011, Olivier Rousteing took over creative direction, becoming one of the youngest directors in fashion history. Under his leadership, Balmain strengthened its contemporary identity, celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and the "glam warrior" aesthetic. Rousteing brought the brand into the digital era, building the so-called "Balmain Army", a group of celebrities and influencers such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Beyoncé who embody the brand's spirit.
Today, Balmain is recognized for its bold, structured, and detail-rich style. The maison continues to fuse couture tradition with a modern vision, expanding into ready-to-wear, accessories, and fragrances, while firmly maintaining its Parisian heritage.
