Due to the Spanish Civil War, Cristóbal moved to Paris in 1937, where he inaugurated his first French maison. In a short time, he became one of the most respected designers in haute couture. Christian Dior described him as "the master of us all," while Coco Chanel considered him the only true couturier capable of personally designing, cutting, and sewing a dress.

In the fifties and sixties, Balenciaga revolutionized the female silhouette by introducing innovative lines and unprecedented volumes. Among his most famous creations are the sack dress, the balloon coat, the tunic line, and the baby doll dress. His collections are distinguished by the balance between simplicity, structural research, and perfection of detail, profoundly influencing twentieth-century fashion.

In 1968, Cristóbal Balenciaga decided to close the maison and retired from the fashion world. He passed away in 1972, leaving a creative legacy that continues to inspire designers worldwide. After several years of inactivity, the brand was relaunched in the eighties and entered a new phase of growth thanks to creative directors such as Nicolas Ghesquière, who modernized the maison's language while maintaining its identity.

Subsequently, Alexander Wang and especially Demna have reinterpreted Balenciaga with a contemporary style, characterized by oversize proportions, experimental design, and a strong influence from urban culture. The Triple S sneakers, Hourglass bags, and deconstructed silhouettes have become symbols of this new creative direction.
