The story of the piece
Balenciaga
Balenciaga maxi logo denim jacket
Balenciaga is one of the most iconic and revolutionary fashion houses in the world. Founded in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga in San Sebastián, Spain, the maison moved to Paris in 1937 due to the Spanish Civil War. Here, Balenciaga quickly became a central figure in Parisian haute couture.
Balenciaga maxi logo denim jacket. Cristóbal Balenciaga was renowned for his technical mastery and avant-garde vision. His innovative cuts, architectural lines, and structured silhouettes radically changed the concept of women's clothing. Among his most famous creations are the sack dress, the collarless suit, the egg coat, and the tunic. Loved by figures such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, Balenciaga was considered the "master of masters" by Christian Dior.
After Cristóbal's retirement in 1968 and his death in 1972, the brand remained inactive until the 1990s. The true rebirth came with Nicolas Ghesquière, who between 1997 and 2012 modernized Balenciaga with a futuristic and experimental aesthetic.
In 2015, the creative direction passed to Demna Gvasalia, who transformed Balenciaga into a global phenomenon. Under his leadership, the brand has embraced a streetwear, oversized, and conceptual language, maintaining the founder's innovative spirit. His creations—such as the Triple S sneakers, deconstructed pieces, and provocative collections—have redefined the boundaries between luxury fashion and urban culture.
