The world's most famous down jacket brand was founded in 1952 in France by entrepreneur and mountain gear manufacturer René Ramillon. In the 1980s, Moncler finally made its urban debut with its original quilting, glossy finish, and dazzling colors. Renowned designer Chantal Thomass collaborated with the maison until 1989, reimagining the classic down jacket look: replacing zippers with buttons and introducing fur trims, satin, and reversible fabrics. By integrating into everyday urban wear and focusing on fit, aesthetic research, experimentation, and materials, Moncler's universal spirit and high quality were brought to the forefront, with garments strictly produced in Europe.
