The story of the piece
Moncler
Moncler Maite short double-breasted cotton trench coat
Moncler is an Italian fashion brand, primarily known for its luxury down jackets, founded in 1952 by René Ramillon and André Vincent in Monestier-de-Clermont, a small French village located at the foot of the Alps. The name “Moncler” is derived from the fusion of “Monestier-de-Clermont”, its town of origin, with “Clermont”, a nod to the Alpine and mountain tradition. Initially, the brand focused on producing mountain equipment, including tents and sleeping bags, but in 1954, Moncler began producing down jackets for mountaineers.
Moncler Maite short double-breasted cotton trench coat In the 1960s, the brand gained notoriety when its down jackets were worn by French athletes during the 1968 Winter Olympics, consolidating its reputation in the technical winter sports apparel sector. In the 1980s, Moncler focused exclusively on the production of jackets and down jackets, becoming a symbol of high quality and luxury in the fashion industry.
In 2003, the brand was acquired by the Italian group “Investir”, which relaunched its image and production, leading Moncler to become a global luxury brand. The maison began collaborating with internationally renowned designers, such as Giambattista Valli and Thom Browne, to create innovative collections that blended haute couture with technical apparel.
Today, Moncler is synonymous with luxury, elegance, and functionality, and has become a global brand with a strong international presence. Its down jackets are loved both for their exclusive aesthetic and their technical performance, continuing to redefine the concept of luxury sportswear.
