The story of the piece

Gucci

Gucci cotton sheath midi skirt

Gucci, one of the most prestigious luxury brands in the world, was founded in 1921 in Florence by Guccio Gucci. Born in 1881, Guccio drew inspiration from his work as a porter at the Savoy Hotel in London, where he observed the refined taste of the international elite. Upon returning to Italy, he opened a boutique dedicated to high-quality leather goods and equestrian items.

Gucci cotton sheath midi skirt Guccio's vision was to create products that combined Italian craftsmanship with functional luxury. In the 1930s, Gucci became famous for the use of the diamond pattern and the green and red stripes inspired by saddle girths. Success continued in the 1950s with the introduction of the horsebit, another homage to the equestrian world, and the Bamboo bag, now a brand icon.

After Guccio's death in 1953, his children expanded the brand internationally, opening boutiques in New York, London, and Paris. However, internal family struggles in the 1980s put the company in crisis, which was saved by a new management led by Domenico De Sole and Tom Ford. The Texan designer relaunched Gucci with a bold and provocative style, transforming it into a symbol of modernity and sensuality.

In 2004, Alessandro Michele took the creative lead of the brand, bringing an eccentric and romantic vision that captured a new generation of consumers. Today Gucci is part of the Kering group and continues to innovate, keeping its artisanal heritage and pioneering spirit alive, representing the essence of Italian luxury in the world.
